How To Design A Website For Florists

May 20, 2020 By Erik 6 Comments

Are you looking to build a website for your flower shop? An online presence will help you increase both business visibility and customer base.

But, it’s not so easy as it seems. You can’t just invite your visitors to visit your website to make some sales. You need to have a good and well-structured layout that reflects your brand and attracts your ideal clients.

So, how to design your florist website? Here are some steps to take into consideration.

How To Create the Website Graphic

Before putting yourself in front of the computer, I invite you to start drawing with pen and paper, make some sketches of the result you would like to get. You are in the process of developing the idea of your floral design.

This first step concerning the graphic of the website corresponds in technical language to the wireframe layout.

The term wireframe indicates a draft that has the appearance more of a skeleton rather than a finished result, in which all the noteworthy parts are highlighted, representing them through blocks.

The wireframe draft serves as a first development idea to obtain feedback and possibly a series of indications or changes to be made to the structure. This version allows you to outline the structure and therefore the architecture of the website, on which then go on to draw the graphics in detail.

The Layout of the Website

Once you have it on paper, then it’s time to put design the website graphics. There are several programs that allow you to draw, the most popular is Photoshop.

At this point, a new worksheet of the required size is created. It is a question of accurately reproducing the sketch elaborated in wireframe, completing it in its parts and paying attention to details.

A suggestion that can be very useful is to work with a grid, that is to define a scheme on which to then insert the contents.

Having a scheme or a grid to work on allows you to be more precise and clear in the formulation of the layout. When creating websites, reference is usually made to the bootstrap grids that allow you to design the graphic structure in the best way and according to the customer’s needs.

Using this tool, you can divide the contents into horizontal and vertical columns and grids to make navigation and reading of the page more immediate. It develops on a system of twelve columns on which texts and images are divided.

The Elements that You Can’t Miss in Your Florist Website

The main element that you should not miss concerns the part related to the graphic interface, providing essential elements to make the user experience unique. If you want to excite your customers, then the images are crucial, they must be well done and have the right space.

What does this mean? Concentrate on a few shots, do those well and put them on the site. Find the right space for each image (the most beautiful flowers for example) and put them in the foreground, on the slide show and the others distribute them carefully within the various pages.

Users are bombarded with information and you must try to be as direct and clear as possible even through the choice of the right images to be able to capture his attention.

In addition to the images also focus on defining a color scheme, identifying the main and secondary colors. Defining the schema will also help you locate the content hierarchy. Use the color to highlight the main information and for the calls to actions, or the actions that users must perform. If you are undecided about choosing the color scheme, there are several sites that can help you out. If you want to know more I recommend you read this article.

Also, focus on the choice of the font. The texts must be clear and legible, so try to choose a font that is easily readable to make the contents understandable.

An about page is essential. Add a beautiful image of yourself or your team. This is one step towards building trust. You can consider the idea of creating a video, where you share a tour of your flower shop.

Then, create a contact page with your e-mail address (yourname@yourwebsite) and phone number. Let your customers contact you easily without going through any online form.

Finally, consider the idea of building a blog, where you share news of your flower shop or tutorials on creating the most beautiful bouquet!

    ThanK you for your article.
Wide frames AND white spaces give flourist designs a solid structure.
Colors of the flowers should be lively or plain. Don’t mix the 2 styles.
